MOSCOW, August 24 - RAPSI. A Moscow police officer was detained Wednesday night after taking a 60,000 ruble ($2,000) bribe, the Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti.

According to investigators, the police officer extorted money form a companys representative in exchange for turning a blind eye toward the fact that the company was employing six illegal Kirghiz workers.

Case materials were submitted to the Investigative Committee in order for it to open a criminal case against the policeman.

Authorities are also investigating the involvement of the officers immediate superiors in the matter.
