Police chief detained for corruption
MOSCOW, August 25 - RAPSI. Investigators have detained former Domodedovo police chief Boris Zhukov for abuse of office, the Investigative Committees branch for Moscow Region reported on Thursday.
Investigators maintain that, from 2008 until 2010, Zhukov, along with subordinates, would receive information on trucks carrying illegal cargo,,stop the trucks, and demand payment for their release. These payments ranged from $25,000 to $80,000.After taking the money and releasing the cargo, the officers would destroy all record of the stops.
Zhukov, along with other officers, faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
