MOSCOW, March 30 - RAPSI. The Moscow Regional Court fined on Friday Voskresensk Mayor Yuri Sleptsov $618,000 for accepting a $6,800 bribe.

According to investigators, Sleptsov demanded 540,000 rubles ($18,400) and 25 percent of future profits for a promise to lease out Voskresensk drainage systems for a 25-year term in July 2010. Some time later, the mayor was arrested taking 200,000 rubles ($6,800) from the lessee.

In determining the fine amount, the court found no aggravating circumstances and took account of the time Sleptsov spent in custody. However, the court has prohibited the ex-mayor from holding government office for three years.
