CHITA, June 27 – RAPSI. Investigators initiated a criminal case, the sixth in two years, on the receipt of bribes in Transbaikal State University.

This time the professor of the University is suspected of receiving 25,000 rubles ($750) from students for putting grades on exams without the students ever taking them, the representative of the territory’s investigative department said on Wednesday.

“The funds have been seized by the police after the students complained. According to the students, the dean only gave good grades for money. A “satisfactory” mark cost 5,000 rubles ($151.98), while a “good” cost 6,000 rubles ($182.37),” a representative of the investigative department said.

According to the investigator, a university employee, whom the students called the magician, gave the suspect record books and money. Her actions will be reviewed for legality as well.

The criminal case for bribery has been initiated with respect to the dean. He faces up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to 40 times the bribe amount.
