CAIRO, April 2 - RAPSI, Alexander Yelistratov. Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority has forwarded the case of former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly, suspected of abuse of office and corruption, to the criminal court.

The authorities claim that el-Adly illegally accumulated wealth worth 181 million Egyptian pounds ($26.6 million) in the form of bank assets and real estate, including several flats in Cairo's green belt and a villa on the Mediterranean.

The Illicit Gains Authority announced its conclusions less than two weeks before the retrial of a high-profile case against el-Adly and former President Hosni Mubarak.
In summer 2012 Mubarak and el-Adly were sentenced to life for the death of protesters during the January 2011 uprising.

El-Adly was also sentenced to 12 years in prison for profiteering and money laundering in May 2011. In mid January 2013, the Court of Cassation accepted an appeal filed by el-Adly against this ruling. A retrial has been set for this case as well and is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2013.
