CAIRO, April 23 (RAPSI, Rafael Daminov) – An Egyptian court has sentenced former Finance Minister Yousef Boutros-Ghali to another 25 years in absentia, the court representatives told journalists on Tuesday.

The sentence was added to the 40-year sentence earlier passed on Boutros-Ghali.

Boutros-Ghali, who is a nephew of former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, has been sentenced over new corruption charges. The former finance minister was found guilty of embezzling some $3 million in state funds.

Earlier, an Egyptian court sentenced several top officials who served during Hosni Mubarak’s regime on charges of corruption, bribery, squandering, embezzlement, and abuse of power.

Boutros-Ghali fled the country in 2011.
