CAIRO, April 29 (RAPSI) - A Cairo court on Monday declared former Housing Minister Ahmed al-Maghrabi, who served in former President Hosni Mubarak's Cabinet, not guilty in a corruption case, local media reported.

In 2011, Maghrabi, a former official and businessman, was sentenced to five years in prison for illegally distributing land plots in Cairo and its suburbs.  However, the decision issued today will not allow the former minister to leave prison, as he has been accused in another case over financial crimes.

Following the 2011 Egyptian revolution, dozens of criminal cases were launched against former top officials under the Mubarak regime. However, most of these investigations either were not completed or ended up in acquittals.
