MOSCOW, August 23 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. The Supreme Commercial Court has accepted Norilsk Nickel's appeal against a lower courts dismissal of its defamation suit against Prima-TV, a regional television and radio company, a court spokesperson told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).

On May 26, the East-Siberian District Federal Commercial Court upheld the courts judgment against Norilsk Nickels defamation suit against Prima TV.

The claimant maintains that Prima TV broadcast false news on Norilsk Nickel detrimental to its business reputation sometime between August 27 and 31, 2010. A news story entitled "Life in Norilsk is a permanent extreme" and "Norilsk Nickels shareholder dispute is the reason for the Prime Ministers visit to Norilsk" were also published on the defendants web site.

Norilsk Nickel is suing Prima TV to refute the false information both on its TV channel and its web site and to pay one ruble in compensation.
