MOSCOW, June 27 (RAPSI) - The Central Court of Chelyabinsk has recognized a female-to male sex change made by a plaintiff as legitimate and has ordered local civil registry to reflect his new status in all related documents, the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper reported on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, a man has asked the local authorities to recognize his new gender and make amendments to his civil documents. His request was denied, however, as civil registry refused to make any changes until the man presented an official medical document verifying the sex change.

Chelyabinsk court has ruled in favor of a plaintiff after local hospital has confirmed legitimacy and irreversibility of the performed surgery. In addition, it became known that Russian legislation says nothing about the official procedure of recognizing one’s sex change.
