MOSCOW, August 18 – RAPSI, Alyona Yegorova. The Moscow District Federal Commercial Court  upheld a lower court judgment in favor of Marshall Capital Partners and its owner Konstantin Malofeyev in their defamation suit against former Svyazinvest General Director Yevgeny Yurchenko, Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) reports from the courtroom.

Plaintiffs filed their claim based on a defamatory piece that was published in the Vedomosti newspaper on September 16, 2010.
The Moscow Commercial Court ordered the newspaper’s publisher, Business News Media, to publish a refutation of the defamatory language, in both the newspaper and on the paper’s website.

The court also awarded each of the plaintiffs 25,000 rubles from each of the defendants. Initially, each plaintiff claimed 200,000 rubles ($7,000).
Meanwhile the court is hearing a similar lawsuit involving the same parties, concerning an interview with Yurchenko published in Vedomosti on September 15, 2010.

In both cases, Svyazinvest participated as a third party.
