MOSCOW, August 29 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. The Samara Region Commercial Court has upheld the Federal Antimonopoly Services (FAS) invalidation of an advertisement distributed by Media-Markt-Saturn, the Russian subsidiary of German Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH, the FAS reported.

According to the FAS, Media-Markt-Saturn violated advertising laws in August 2010 with its advertisement of a notebook computer on Samara TV and local radio stations. The FAS maintains that the advertisement could potentially have misled children by encouraging the idea that, through possessing the notebook computer, they would be able to increase their prestige amongst peers.

The company appealed the FAS decision at court.

Media Markt is a subsidiary of Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH and is the trade division of Metro Group (Germany). Media Markt operates stores in Russia. In December 2006, Media Markt established Media-Markt-Saturn in order to enter the Russian market.
