MOSCOW, February 8 - RAPSI. The Federal Animonopoly Service has not received a second application on the approval of the Gazpom-Renova energy asset merger, deputy head Anatoly Golomolzin told journalists on Wednesday.

Gazprom and Renova announced on January 19 their intention to finish the merger and extend the corresponding agreement until early 2012. They also confirmed their plan to submit a new merger application to the antimonopoly service. The first application was denied in December.

"No new application was filed," Golomolzin said.

Last June, Gazprom, Gazprom Energoholding and Renova signed an agreement stating their plan to merge their energy assets under the holding.

The transaction was set to be completed by the end of 2011. According to the agreement, Gazprom will own no less than 75 percent minus one share in the company, while Renova will hold 25 percent minus one share. The watchdog objected to the transaction several times.

Gazprom Energoholding is a 100-percent subsidiary of Gazprom, which was set up as part of the implementation of the gas holding's strategy in the power industry.

The IES Holding is Russia's largest power industry company set up in December 2002 to execute strategic investment programs in the industry. It is Renova's parent company.
