MOSCOW, February 20 - RAPSI. Opposition leader Grigory Yavlinsky, the founder of liberal Yabloko party, has not appealed the Supreme Court's decision affirming the Central Election Commission's refusal to register him as a presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential election, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Monday.

The appeal deadline has thus expired and the court judgment came into force.

Yabloko spokesman Igor Yakovlev said Yavlinsky will not challenge the decision.

"We do not intend to appeal the decision," he said.

Yabloko authorized representative Boris Moiseyev, who spoke in Yavlinsky's defense on February 8 at the Supreme Court, said the party considers it senseless to file an appeal "because it is clear what the decision will be and there is no need to waste time."
