Microsoft sues Russian businessman for trademark infringement
MOSCOW, February 21 - RAPSI, Alyona Yegorova. The Moscow Commercial Court will hear on April 11 Microsoft's lawsuit to prohibit Russian businessman Dmitry Shapovalov from using the Windows trademark in Windows.ru domain.
Microsoft confirmed that the lawsuit was filed and stated that the company owns the Windows trademark.
Shapovalov's attorney said the plaintiff's claim is unclear. However, he did not pursue the issue during the preliminary hearing.
The Demos-Internet domain registrar was involved in the case as a third party. The Windows.Ru website is presently blocked.
Microsoft is the world's leading software manufacturer. Its market value was estimated at $224.9 billion as of mid-November.
