MOSCOW, March 16 - RAPSI. After officially asking the Supreme Court to withdraw its petition to liquidate the Republican Party of Russia, the Justice Ministry will register the party once the appropriate procedural measures are taken, the ministry reports on Friday.

The Republican Party and the ministry announced the settlement of the dispute today.

The Republican Party of Russia was part of The Other Russia opposition coalition in 2006-2010. It joined the People's Freedom Party in 2010. The party was headed by Vladimir Ryzhkov, who was a co-chairman of the unregistered People's Freedom Party.

The Republican Party was deprived of registration upon the Supreme Court's order dated May 31, 2007. The Federal Registration Service said the party did not comply with the law in terms of the number of its members and regional branches.

The European Court of Human Rights announced that the party's liquidation was illegal in April 2011. The decision came into force in September.

Ryzhkov then filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court, which canceled its five-year-old decision on January 23. However, the Justice Ministry challenged the ruling and filed a complaint, which was set to be heard on March 29.
