MOSCOW, March 26 - RIA Novosti. The Moscow City Court has decided to keep in detention Interior Ministry General Alexander Bokov, who has been charged with a $10 million theft.

The court dismissed Bokov's request to change the measure of restriction to non-confinement due to his poor health.

Bokov earlier held the post of director of an anti-corruption police department for the CIS. He was accused of stealing almost $10 million from a businessman. He was dismissed after investigators disseminated information about his involvement in the crime.

Investigators said high-ranking police officer decided to steal the money after he learned that the businessman planned to purchase the Volga Oil Tanker Shipping company.

Bokov told the businessman that he could help him purchase the company for a "fee."

Bokov faces up to 10 years in prison. Both he and his accomplices are in custody.

The hearings in Bokov's case have been postponed twice already due to his poor health.

According to Bokov's attorney he would attend the hearing and prove his innocence.
