MURMANSK, April 5 - RAPSI. The court of the city of Murmansk has sentenced a lawyer of Rosgosstrakh-Severo-Zapad insurance company to three years in prison for stealing almost $1.3 million by forging car insurance documents.

Investigators uncovered that in the period from 2006 to 2009 Konstantin Ostrovsky took a high position in the legal department of Rosgosstrakh-Severo-Zapad's branch. He examined enforcement orders issued by court bailiffs on indemnities and was responsible for approving or delaying indemnities.

"Since he had access to the company's private documents, Ostrovsky forged documents on the insured events and submitted them to the insurance company," according to the report.

He then considered the forged documents and issued fake indemnity orders.

The court found him guilty and sentenced Ostrovsky to three years in prison.
