MOSCOW, April 11 - RAPSI. The Moscow City Court left unsatisfied the appeal filed against the extension of the arrest of five suspects in the notorious Moscow Region illegal casino case, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.ru) on Wednesday.

The restraint measure against former Odintsovo and Serpukhov prosecutors Roman Nishchemenko and Oleg Bazylyan and former Interior Ministry's "K" Department employees Farit Termigaliyev, Mikhail Kulikov and Oleg Sudakov will remain in force.

According to the investigation, Sudakov was an authorized representative of the head of the Moscow regional police.

They will be in custody until May 4.

The high-profile scandal provoked a public uproar. Businessman Ivan Nazarov allegedly operated illegal casinos in 15 towns across the Moscow Region. According to law enforcement authorities, several high-ranking officials of prosecutor's offices and the Interior Ministry were involved in the casino operation, which generated between $5 million and $10 million in revenue monthly.

Former Moscow Region First Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Ignatenko is also involved in the case. He is now in Poland. The Nowy Sach Court has ruled to extradite him to Russia.
