TOMSK, April 13 - RAPSI. A regional court has given four years in prison to a Tomsk resident who remitted $115 to an Islamic separatist organization.
According to the Interior Ministry, the man contacted the Caucasus Emirate illegal armed group over the Internet in January 2010. He offered "financial assistance for the armed struggle against Russia in the North Caucasus and the violent change of Russias constitutional setup."
"Upon receiving an e-mail confirming the readiness to receive such aid and the recipients banking details, the convict remitted to the recipient $115, knowing that the Caucasus Emirate groups mainly act in the form of terrorist attacks," the ministry reported.
The suspect fully admitted to the crime during the investigation and trial.
The court found him guilty of aiding and abetting terrorism through financing and sentenced him to four years behind bars.
