MOSCOW, June 27 - RAPSI. Part of the building in central Moscow where the Embassy of Kazakhstan would have been located is held by third parties, the Izvestia newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The investigation of allegedly illegal property possession was initiated after the Ambassador of Kazakhstan turned to law enforcement authorities.

The loss is estimated at around 120 million rubles ($3.64 million).

Meanwhile, the investigation has been slowed down in many ways, even by an attempt on the life of Larisa Nikitina, an employee with the firm representing embassy. Her testimony regarding the fraud was part of the criminal case. The woman was hospitalized in a serious condition, and this is subject to a separate investigation.

Moscow authorities have sued Oleg Cherkasov, who owns part of the building and is suspected of fraud. The authorities seek to quash the property acquisition. The hearing will be held in Moscow's Basmanny District Court.
