KAZAN, July 31 - RAPSI. On Tuesday, after considering the defense's appeal, the Tatarstan Supreme Court left Idel-Khadzh Chairman of the Board Rustem Gataullin in custody. He was arrested on suspicion of attempting to assassinate Mufti of Tatarstan Ildus Fayzov and murder of Spiritual Muslim Board of Tatarstan head Valiulla Yakupov.

Idel-Khadzh is a company which organizes trips for Muslims to Mecca.

Gataullin was arrested on July 23 until September 19, 2012, on the ruling of Kazan's Vakhitovsky District Court.

On July 19, a car exploded in Kazan, injuring Ildus Fayzov. On the same day, Valiulla Yakupov was shot dead near his home. Two cases have been initiated on attempted murder and murder and have been combined into a single proceeding.

Both religious leaders were known for their crusade against extremism.

According to investigators, after Fayzov was elected Mufti, he assumed control of the funds of Idel-Khadzh.

Allegedly, he argued with the organization's management, who then threatened his life.

Seven people have been arrested as part of the case. The court has already considered and dismissed the appeals against the arrest of four suspects.
