ARKHANGELSK, August 10 - RAPSI. The Arkhangelsk Region Prosecutor's Office will appeal the court decision to reduce former Menatep head Platon Lebedev's prison term, the offices press secretary Yulia Shevchenko told RIA Novosti on Friday.

On Wednesday, the Arkhangelsk Regions Velsk Court reduced Lebedev's sentence by 36 months.

The Prosecutors Office will dispute the decision. The prosecutor does not agree with the "excessive reduction" of the punishment, the press secretary said.

On September 16, 2011, the Arkhangelsk Region Court validated the Velsk District Court's decision dismissing Lebedevs request to be released on parole last summer.

In late 2010, a Moscow district court sentenced former YUKOS head Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Lebedev to 14 years in prison for oil theft and money laundering. Khodorkovsky is serving his sentence in the Segezha prison, while Lebedev is serving his sentence in Velsk.
