MOSCOW, October 3 - RAPSI. A magistrate's court in Moscow terminated on Wednesday administrative cases against RIA Novosti and its Editor-in-Chief Sveltana Mironyuk on charges of disclosing personal data.

"The court has ruled to terminate the administrative case against RIA Novosti Editor-in-Chief Sveltana Mironyuk in the absence of an offense in her acts," Judge Irina Demidova said.

The complaint stemmed from a Moscow News article mentioning the name of former police investigator Gulnara Mustafina.

The prosecutor did not appear in court on Wednesday and Mustafina's representatives refused to take the floor during the trial.

RIA Novosti attorney Alexander Makarov stressed that the law entitles media to search for and to disseminate information, which are their two core objectives. Journalists do not have to ask for written consent to publish a public servant's name, he said.
