NOVOSIBIRSK, December 21 - RAPSI. Former Judge Irina Glebova, who restored the parental rights of a drug-addicted father who later killed his child, has opted against having a jury trial, the Novosibirsk Regional Court told RIA Novosti on Friday.

A criminal case was initiated against the judge earlier for intentionally imposing an unjust ruling that resulted in grave consequences. The maximum penalty for the crime is 10 years in prison.

The Investigative Committee previously reported that the drug-addicted mother of the two-year-old girl and also her father Yevgeny Glotov were deprived of their parental rights in 2009.

The girl was transferred to a children's home. Glotov later filed a lawsuit to restore his parental rights under Judge Glebova's descision.

Investigative Committee spokesperson Vladimir Markin stated earlier that the judge committed many violations during two court trials in the case in February and March 2011.

Particularly, the hearings were held without the prosecutor and without examining his assessments in the case. The court also did not review the conclusion of the guardianship and the custodianship agency. Similarly, the judge did not examine the civil lawsuit materials on depriving Glotov of his parental rights and other significant circumstances in the case.

The girl died on April 28, 2011 after the 32-year-old Glotov punched her several times when she refused to eat her porridge. She died at home. Glotov has been sentenced to 19 years in prison.
