MOSCOW, September 4 (RAPSI) - A Colombian national convicted of having organized a 33 million ruble ($988,932) theft at an exhibition in St. Petersburg has been sentenced to prison, the Northwestern Transport Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday.

In February 2012, the police detained members of an international gang who allegedly stole jewelry, precious stones from the firm participating in the JUNWEX 2012 exhibition in St. Petersburg. All of the suspects were Columbian nationals.

The organizer of the gang will serve his sentence in a correctional colony. Prosecutors said nothing about the total time of imprisonment.

Two other members of the gang were convicted in June and August 2013.
