MOSCOW, October 11 (RAPSI) – A resident of the Sverdlovsk Region in Russian Ural was sentenced to 200 hours of community service for sending explicit pictures of his ex-wife to her coworkers and neighbours.

The investigators say that in September 2012, the disgruntled man printed out a number of photos depicting his wife in sexually explicit manner, and then sent them out to her workplace and roommates.

Such disclosure of the woman’s private life led to a number of negative consequences for her, namely, she had to quit her previous job.

The court discovered that the purpose of the deed was to tarnish her reputation over custody dispute for their small child.

For the intrusion of privacy, the 40 year old man was sentenced to 200 hours of compulsory community service. In addition, he has to pay his former spouse 100, 000 rubles ($3,000) in moral damages and compensate the legal fees.

Revenge porn is a nude photograph or video which is publicly shared online (most frequently by vindictive ex-lover of the subject's) for the purpose of humiliation. Adult content is placed on specialized websites and is often shared with links to the victim’s Facebook page. Several western lawmakers consider a motion to ban revenge porn websites because it causes a severe damage to the victim’s social life, reputation and morale.
