MOSCOW, October 23 (RAPSI) - The Ninth Commercial Court of Appeals has dismissed an appeal filed by Japan's automaker Nissan seeking to deprive Siberian company SUN of its rights to Infinity brand, RAPSI learned in the court Wednesday.

Novosibirsk-based SUN said the brand was registered by the patent agency (Rospatent) in 2008. The company used the brand for its core business goods at the time - wide-format printing products.

Nissan is seeking to cancel prematurely the legal protection of the brand which allegedly has not been used for an extended period of time in Russia.

The Moscow Commercial Court dismissed the lawsuit filed by Nissan last August.

According to SUN, it was ready to reassign the brand to Nissan for 10 million rubles (over $314,000) while the automaker opted to go to court.
