KIEV, October 29 (RAPSI)  - The Dnepropetrovsk Region Appeals Court seized a building owned by the daughter of convicted Ukrainian ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The first deputy chair of Tymoshenko’s Batkivshina opposition party, Aleksandr Turchinov, said at a press-conference on Tuesday that the 2012 lawsuit demanding seizure of the building was previously turned down.

“The Ukrainian authorities will stop at nothing to eliminate their opponents. The court reviewed the case again, and the same roster of judges decided to seize the building, which was acquired by the Tymoshenko family in 2002,”- Turchinov said.

Turchinov called it an attempt to settle the score with political opponents by repressing their children, which he deemed  unacceptable in view of the upcoming EU-Ukrainian summit.

Ukraine is one of several countries set to sign free trade agreements with the EU during a summit in Lithuania on November 28-29.

In October 2011, Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison for abuse of power. The judge said she abused her powers when she signed a 2009 deal with Moscow under which Ukraine paid a high price for Russian gas. She also faces accusations in a high-profile murder case.
