MOSCOW, November 7 (RAPSI) – Terror suspect Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed, who escaped surveillance Friday after changing into a burka, is in the process of suing various UK government agencies based on allegations of complicity in torture and mistreatment, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing London’s High Court.

Mohamed and another man, identified only by his initials, are suing the Foreign Office, the Home Office, and the Defense Ministry. They are reportedly seeking damages based on claims that they endured unlawful detention, torture, and mistreatment while detained in Somaliland, where they were arrested in January 2011 and held until being transferred to the UK that March.

According to the report, Mohamed had previously been identified only by the initials “MA,” but his anonymity in the case was repealed after he disappeared Friday.

The London Metropolitan Police force’s counter-terrorism office issued an appeal Monday seeking information on Mohamed’s whereabouts. He is described in the appeal as being Somali born, and about 5’8 with a medium build.

According to the appeal, he was last seen at a local mosque Friday afternoon, after having entered several hours earlier. According to the statement, he had changed into “traditional Islamic clothing.” It was widely reported that Mohamed changed into a burka before absconding from the mosque.
