MOSCOW, April 15 (RAPSI) – The District Administrative Court of Kiev on Tuesday declined to revoke the temporary suspension of four Russian TV channels in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported from the courtroom.

The court thus rejected a motion filed by the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company’s (VGTRK) lawyer.

Four TV channels were suspended in Ukraine on March 25, including: Channel One. Global Network, RTR-Planeta, Russia 24, and NTV Mir.

Judge Yevgeny Ablov said that the companies received copies of the court ruling in early April but didn’t exercise their right to appeal it. According to the judge, such rulings must be brought before the courts of appeal.

On February 22, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (parliament) impeached Viktor Yanukovich and amended the constitution. Presidential authority was assigned to parliament speaker Alexander Turchinov and a presidential election was scheduled for May 25.

Russia has denounced the events in Ukraine as an armed coup. President Vladimir Putin said during a news conference in March that Yanukovich remains Ukraine’s legitimate president.
