MOSCOW, June 24 (RAPSI) – About 338 million rubles ($10 million) in federal funding has been allocated this year for housing for judges, but this is apparently not enough, an official said on Tuesday.
About 128.4 billion rubles ($3.75 billion) were allocated to general jurisdiction courts, and 25 billion rubles ($730 million) to commercial courts this year, Alexander Gusev, head of the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court, said at a conference of the chairs of the councils of judges in Moscow.
Of this amount, 1.25 billion rubles ($36.5 million) will be invested in computer equipment and 3.5 billion rubles ($102 million) in the construction, renovation and acquisition of residential and office space. Only 338 million rubles ($10 million) can be used to buy housing for judges.
“This is very little, and this is a concern for us and the Council of Judges of Russia, because, unfortunately, housing prices are growing by leaps and bounds,” Gusev said.
