“On September 19, 2014, the organizer of a criminal group was apprehended when selling a batch of smuggled weapons in the Moscow Region. The same day, the other members of the criminal group that smuggled weapons and ammunition from the EU and Ukraine and sold them in Russia were arrested in six other regions,” the statement says.
As a result, four shops where the smuggled weapons had been repaired and modified and where ammunition was made have been shut down. The confiscated weapons included 136 firearms, including WW II mortars, machineguns, handguns, automatic handguns and pistols of Soviet and foreign make, submachine guns, ammunition, knives and explosives.
