MOSCOW, October 2 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled to strip a lawmaker from the Communist Party of Russian Federation, Nikolay Parshin of his parliamentary immunity, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.

The defense team argued that Parshin’s immunity was stripped in violation of established procedure. The State Duma representative responded that the immunity removal was conducted according to the Prosecutor General’s Office guidelines, and was voted for by a majority.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Parshin is suspected of fraud. The investigation believes that the lawmaker, while serving in the Volgograd regional parliament, used his authority to conduct several lucrative machinations during the sale of a local school building. The alleged damage is estimated at 25 million rubles ($630,000).
