MOSCOW, November 17 (RAPSI) – Russia's Supreme Court has ruled on Monday to blacklist Right Sector, Ukrainian People's Self-Defense, known also as UNA-UNSO, as extremist organisations and ban them from operating on the territory of the country, RAPSI reports from the court.

In addition, The Supreme Court banned radical organization Brotherhood, Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Stepan Bandera All-Ukrainian Organization ″Tryzub″

UNA-UNSO was formed in Ukraine in the early 90s. A number of its members took part in then ongoing Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, along with its leader Dmitry Korchinsky, who is currently heading the nationalist Brotherhood party.

In March 2014, Russia’s Investigative Committee opened criminal cases against several Ukrainian citizens who were members of UNA-UNSO, including Korchinsky, Tyagnibok brothers and Right Sector leader Dmitry Yarosh.

They are suspected of being a part of armed group that fought federal troops alongside Chechen separatists in the 90s.

UNA-UNSO merged with the Right Sector in  March 2014, officially dissolving as a separate political party.

In July, Interpol put Dmitry Yarosh on a wanted list, after he was charged with public incitement to terrorist, and arrested in absentia in Russia.
