MOSCOW, May 25 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) – Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the nationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), filed a defamation suit seeking 1 million rubles (over $20,000) in damages from a company that published a book by Spanish journalist Rafael Poch-de-Feliu, RAPSI learnt at the Moscows' Zamoskvoretsky District Court on Monday.

The book titled "La Gran Transicion" describes political life in modern Russia. It contains a quote attributed to Zhirinovsky, who allegedly admitted receiving money from various political organizations for making favorable public statements.

Zhirinovsky denies the allegations and wants them to be retracted.

Vremya Publishing House has been named a defendant in the case.

The suit was filed with Moscows' Zamoskvoretsky District Court but later forwarded to Moscow's Tverskoy District Court due to the defendant’s notice of change of address.
