MOSCOW, May 28 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) – The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court has upheld the detention of former scientist of the federal research nuclear centre, Vladimir Golubev, suspected of leaking state secrets, his lawyer Yevgeny Gubin told RAPSI on Thursday.

Golubev was released on his own recognizance after his arrest. Investigators filed a motion for detention alleging that Golubev had violated the terms of his release, according to his lawyer. In late April, a court in the city of Sarov in central Russia ordered the detention of Golubev.

Golubev, 66, revealed classified materials at an international conference held in Prague in 2013, according to investigators.

Golubev says that the materials in questions were published in scientific outlets before his presentation was displayed at the conference.
