MOSCOW, July 16 (RAPSI) - The Ninth Commercial Court of Appeals has upheld the ruling of a lower instance court to collect about 70 million rubles (about $1.3 mln) from the Association for Quality Control of Consumer Goods in favor of Sony Electronics, according to court records.

On March 18, the Moscow Commercial Court ordered the Consumer Goods association to pay 68.4 million rubles ($1.2 mln) in principal and 831,800 rubles ($14,700) in interest plus 200,000 rubles ($3,500) in customs costs. The association appealed the ruling.

According to the lawsuit filed by Sony Electronics, on July 1, 2013, the company (supplier) and the association (distributor) signed an agreement, under which the supplier agreed to sell, and the distributor agreed to buy, products (Sony consumer electronics) for further distribution in Russia.

The plaintiff provided the goods to the defendant for a total value of 69.6 million rubles ($1.2 mln). The plaintiff claims that the defendant did not pay the entire amount in violation of the agreement and that the outstanding debt was 68.4 million rubles ($1.2 mln) at the time the claim was filed.
