MOSCOW, August 11 (RAPSI) - Kazan lawyer Lavrenty Sichinava has filed a motion with Russia’s Supreme Court requesting invalidation of a government resolution restricting imports of foreign medical goods, Interfax reports on Tuesday.

The government intends to restrict over 40 items used in healthcare, including body scanners, ECG machines, tools for micro-surgery in ophthalmology, dental burs, hearing aids and blood glucose meters.

The lawyer believes that the resolution contradicts the Russian Constitution and the Federal Law on the Protection of Health and Wellbeing of Russian Citizens.

Sichinava claims that by adopting the resolution, the government violated citizens’ right to adequate healthcare because the disputed resolution deprives them of the opportunity to receive high-quality medical assistance that includes preventive procedures and treatments using advanced technology.
