MOSCOW, September 14 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a motion with the Yuzno-Sakhalinsk court to confiscate the assets of former Sakhalin Governor Alexander Khoroshavin. The assets are valued at RUB 1.1 billion ($16 million), RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing Sergey Zhorin, a lawyer representing Khoroshavin’s wife.

Alexander Khoroshavin and a number of Sakhalin officials and entrepreneurs are currently being detained on large-scale corruption charges.

“Citing the fact that Khoroshavin has not declared his expenses, the Prosecutor General’s Office has asked that all property belonging to the former governor, his wife and son be taken by the state,” the lawyer said, adding that the property includes several apartments in Moscow, a residence on Rublyovskoye Motorway near Moscow, cash and jewelry.

The court is expected to hear the Prosecutor General’s motion on October 1, Zhorin noted.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has yet to provide a comment on this matter to RIA Novosti.
