MOSCOW, September 30 (RAPSI) – Viktor Shchekotov, former mayor of Troitsk, a town in the Chelyabinsk Region, has been sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for corruption and abuse of office, the regional department of the Investigative Committee announced on Wednesday.

A court also imposed a fine of 2.2 million rubles ($33,200) on him.

Shchekotov was arrested in July 2013. 

According to investigators, from 2001 till 2013, he received over 3.5 million rubles (about $ 53,000) for allocation of retail facilities.
