MOSCOW, March 15 (RAPSI) – A Russian national has received a 1.5-year suspended sentence for failure to disclose 6 kilos of gold he found in a forest in the Amur region in Russia's Far East, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.

On August 5, 2015, Magomed Tochiev found a hidden stash in the local forest. The stash contained approximately 6 kilograms of gold.

Later representatives of the local Federal Security Service conducted vehicle inspection and found the gold worth around 12 million rubles ($171,000) in Tochiev’s car, according to the Skovrodinsky District Court of the Amur Region.

Russian legislation prohibits selling, storing and transportation of raw precious metals, gems and pearls if specific rules regarding these goods are violated. A person found guilty of unlawfully dealing with large amount of these goods may be sentenced up to 5 years in prison and fined up to 500,000 rubles ($7,100).
