MOSCOW, March 18 (RAPSI) – A court in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk has found a member of a criminal group that, among other things, was responsible for extremism financing, guilty and sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.

The gang was led by Murat Gazgireev who transferred part of the profit from criminal operations to radical Islamist groups in Russia.

According to the Federal Security Service (FB), in 2012 Gazgireev created an ethnic criminal organization in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Members of the gang had criminal past and additionally were following radical forms of Islam.

The gang was responsible for conducting robberies, documents forgery, extortion, frauds, illicit trafficking of arms, ammunition, drugs and precious metals.
