MOSCOW, August 23 (RAPSI) – An appeal filed by Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) against the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) ruling that suspended Russian Paralympic team from participating in games in Rio has been dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), according to the press-release published on the court’s official website.

On August 7, IPC banned 268 Russian athletes from competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games following the country's doping scandal. Russian team was suspended due to its alleged inability to fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to comply with international anti-doping regulations.

The CAS ruled that the International Committee’s ruling “was made in accordance with the IPC rules and was proportionate in the circumstances.” According to the CAS, the Russian Committee did not provide any evidence contradicting accusations brought against it.

The CAS did not determine the fate of individual athletes following the suspension of the RPC.
