MOSCOW, August 29 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) - Moscow’s Lefortosky District Court has ordered the detention of former top manager of the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (UES FGC) Valery Goncharov suspected of abuse of power during construction of a power bridge to Crimea, the court’s press office told RAPSI on Monday.

Goncharov has been reportedly arrested by the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) officers. He has not been on the staff of the UES FGC since August 2016, according to the company.

He is suspected of large scale fraud. Other details have not been disclosed.

According to the court’s press office, Goncharov will remain in detention until October 26.

Federal Grid Company, the largest publicly traded electricity transmission company in the world, is the operator and manager of Russia’s unified electricity transmission grid system, including high voltage transmission lines, and holds the status of a natural monopoly, the UES FGC official website says.
