MOSCOW, October 4 (RAPSI) – The Ninth Commercial Court of Appeals has upheld the lower court’s ruling to recover 50,000 rubles ($790) from Yandex as compensation to “Silver Rain” radio station for violating brand rights, the court documents read on Tuesday.

On July 8, the Moscow Commercial Court ruled in radio station’s favor. According to “Silver Rain”, its conflict with Yandex began in June of 2015 when “Yandex. Radio” service used musical content and logo of “Silver Rain” without permission. The radio station initially tried to resolve the incident peacefully. In March, however, it filed a lawsuit against Yandex.

Press-service of Yandex said that during the launch of “Yandex. Radio” one of the offered categories was “Like on radio” with references to various radio stations. According to Yandex, this category did not use logos or broadcasts from those stations and were used to help users in their choice of music. This category was closed after several radio stations approached Yandex.

“Yandex. Radio” was started in June 2015. Service is free and offers a collection of radio stations with different moods, of different genres and from different timelines.
