MOSCOW, October 12 (RAPSI, Lyudmila Klenko) – The Moscow City Court has upheld seizure of paintings belonging to Ukrainian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin, who allegedly evaded hundreds of millions of rubles in taxes, the court’s press office told RAPSI on Wednesday.

As reported earlier, Grigorishin has already paid out about 100 million rubles as part of the case against him.

Russian investigators claim that from 2009 to 2010, Grigorishin failed to pay taxes worth 674 million rubles ($10.9 million) on "PIK Sozidanie", the company he owns. However, the total debt is equal to 916 million rubles ($14.7 million) including fines and penalty, according to investigation.

The businessman has been put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia.

In 2015, Forbes ranked Grigorishin as “leading river ship owner in Ukraine” with a $1.1 billion fortune.  According to the magazine, despite the fact that the billionaire was born in Zaporozhye and most of his assets are in Ukraine, he is a Cyprus national and does not have a Ukrainian passport.

Meanwhile, Grigorishin faces a criminal indictment not only in Russia, but in Ukraine as well. Earlier, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced that several criminal cases had been opened against the businessman.
