MOSCOW, October 28 (RAPSI) – A former official at the Moscow City Property Department had been arrested over alleged abuse of office and causing 65 million rubles (about $1,000,000) damage to the state, RIA Novosti reported on Friday citing an undisclosed source.

The arrested suspect had been once a top official with the unit of the city’s Government responsible for inventory of non-residential premises in Central Moscow, the agency quoted its source as having said. The official was dismissed from his post yet in 2012, according to the Moscow City Property Department.

“He is suspected of granting rights to use located in the Central Moscow non-commercialized buildings owned by the city to legal entities and individuals in abuse of his office,” the source said.

Investigators in the case believe the damage to the state made 65 million rubles ($1,000,000).

Among the premises the ex-official has been alleged to illegally provide for use are top locations in the center of Moscow including some buildings registered as cultural heritage.
