MOSCOW, November 28 (RAPSI) - General Gennady Lopyrev, who heads the Federal Guard Service (FSO) in Caucasus region, has appealed his detention amid bribery allegations, Lopyrev's lawyer Ruslan Zakolyuzhny told RAPSI on Monday.

The lawyer wants Lopyrev who pleads not guilty to be placed under house arrest.

Lopyrev was arrested on Friday following an internal check conducted in the FSO units in Caucasus region. Later in the evening, the 94th Garrison Military Court ruled to put him in detention until January 23.

Investigators claim that Lopyrev took bribes from businessmen for protection during signing and execution of government contracts on construction and repair works.

Russian media outlets reported earlier that the case may be connected with the construction of the Olympic venues in Sochi.
