MOSCOW, January 23 (RAPSI, Lyudmila Klenko) - Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has launched a criminal case against Judge of the Leninsky District Court in the city of Stavropol Inna Popova on suspicion of taking a 10 million-ruble bribe (about $168,000), the Committee’s press service announced on Monday.

Investigators believe that in July 2015 the suspect offered a woman assistance in placement in a job of federal judge in Stavropol for 12 million rubles ($201,000). The woman turned to police. Popova was arrested while receiving from the woman, who acted within investigative activities, 10 million rubles, 9,990,000 of which were fake.

Investigation into the case is conducted by the major investigations’ department of the Investigative Committee’ s regional Directorate, the statement reads.
