ST. PETERSBURG, February 6 (RAPSI, Mikhail Telekhov) – The Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg will begin hearing a criminal case over the murder of Paralympic wrestler Semyon Filatov on February 16, RAPSI learnt in the court on Monday.

Defendants in the case, the athlete’s ex-girlfriend Anastasia Miniaylova, 24, and her friend Israil Aliyev, 20, are currently in detention.

According to case papers, Filatov, 24, was shot six times in the heart and once in the face at point blank range in July 2016.

Investigators believe that Miniaylova and Aliyev have conspired to kill the Paralympian out of revenge.  Miniaylova has organized the murder and seduced her ex-boyfriend from home thus giving Aliyev an opportunity to kill Filatov.
